The Sulawesi DEMU is designed with a track gauge of 1,435 mm and an operational speed of 80 km/h. It has the capacity to accommodate 278 passengers. The train features an aluminum carbody with a diesel-electric propulsion system and bolsterless type motor and trailer bogies. The braking system consists of dynamic brakes and electro-pneumatic brakes, with tightly locked automatic couplers. The doors use an automatic sliding system and are equipped with air conditioning with a capacity of 38,000 kcal/h.
